Reviews and Support for Medicinne

In the first week of its release, Medicinne's "Saving/Lucid" EP has garnered great reviews and full support from some of the world's top DJs. Here are some of the highlights.

LessThan3:
"Medicinne is the collaborative moniker of DJs Arcader and Allen Tagle, who combine forces to craft groovy tech tracks using only the bare necessities. Their latest offering, the Saving/Lucid EP, demonstrates just how much one can accomplish with little more than a drum machine and some well-placed vocal samples.

The EP kicks off with Saving, a subtly syncopated banger that patiently warps and builds with carefully timed percussion layers unfolding and interacting across its six-minute runtime. Lucid is similarly percussion-driven, but quickly establishes a unique identity for itself with a rollicking, freewheeling bassline that's guaranteed to leave your head spinning."

Notable Dance:
"Following from yesterday’s theme of mellower genres rising from the EDM/big room sound, let’s take a listen to these two deep/tech-house tracks from Medicinne.  The duo of Arcader (“Pillowtalk”) and Allen Tagle start with “Saving,” which is a bit more uptempo with a bouncy beat, effected vocal, and bit of the retro Nu-House vibe while still staying in the tech-house world.  “Lucid” feels more like a progressive concept album track from the ’70s, as produced with modern electronic elements.  It has a few guitar elements that are reminiscent of Deep Dish during the “Flashdance” era, but overall has more of a feel of mid-’90s progressive house/trance.  Both tracks will work for DJs looking for deeper tracks for early evening play and for listeners looking for tech-house tracks that have a beat that you can still chill with."

FluxBPM:
"Saving / Lucid will be praised and supported from all the big guns in the industry and with a reason, of course. Saving is such a funky groover that will immediately lock you in its groove and will be super hard to resist it and not start tapping your feet or moving and shaking your body."

Medicinne - Saving/Lucid EP Preview

Medicinne - "Saving/Lucid" - Available on Beatport: March 4. 2014

Medicinne - a collaboration between two of Francis Preve's alumni: Arcader (Definitive, Academik) and deep tech DJ, Allen Tagle - delivers a stunning tech house debut with their "Saving/Lucid" EP.

"Saving" begins with bass-laden jacked up beats, then fuses deep house vocal slices with subtle techno flourishes, culminating in a surprisingly ethereal breakdown that never loses the groove. The result is a mesmerizing dancefloor journey that works equally well in both house and techno sets.

"Lucid" stakes out different tech house territory, combining indie guitar elements with Medicinne's driving-yet-funky progressive sensibilities. "Lucid" keeps the crowd guessing with a series of complex, yet utterly musical twists and turns that culminate in a massive atmospheric guitar breakdown, evoking the glory days of Sasha & Digweed without feeling forced or nostalgic.

With a debut like "Saving/Lucid", Medicinne quickly marks their place in the vast world of progressive tech house. Their combination of intelligent sound design and intricate musical details makes them a duo to watch in 2014.

Reviews and Support for "Glow Ballz"

Since its release on February 11, 2014, Matt Lange & Francis Preve's "Glow Ballz" has received strong support from top DJs and blogs. Here's a sampling of the buzz...

LessThan3:
"The original mix of Glow Ballz sits in the deep techno arena, with hypnotic drum patterns separated by an ambient breakdown that adds a layer of mystery to the track. Jan van Lier ups the energy a bit in his take, adding prominent hi hats, chord stabs, a heavier breakdown, and a drop that is sure to incite cheers and shrill whistling in the club. Academik has a reputation for releasing clean, crisp productions, and Glow Ballz is no different."

The Bangin' Beats:
"Check out this absolutely cataclysmic track that will blow you away."

Notable Dance:
“Glow Ballz” shines as one of the more memorable tracks in the genre."

EDMTunes:
"The preview drops us into a heavy set of drums and dark bass, with a peculiar tribal feel. It quickly morphs into something very serene, calming, yet weirdly eerie, almost like something out of an X-Files episode. This isn’t to say it’s bad, in fact it’s incredibly well done, as we have come to expect from the grossly talented Matt Lange. The build up back to the bumpin’ drums isn’t accompanied by a drop, thankfully (it just wouldn’t feel right). We could argue about its genre for days, but we rather like one of the commenter’s descriptions “Tribal Tech” so let’s go with that."

MC Flipside: Jan van Lier remix is rocking. 4/5 stars.

Blake Jarrell: Thanks! 5/5 stars.

Guy J: Liking Jan's remix. Thnx good luck. 3/5 stars.

Spesh: Good stuff. Both mixes, and love Jan van Lier. 4/5 stars.

Arcader: 2 solid tracks. Favoring the Jan van Lier remix at the moment, but love both. 5/5 stars.

Roe Pressley:  Great. Love 'em both! Love the mysterious deep-techy feel of the original, and the dancefloor-bangin' JvL contribution. 4/5 stars.

Alfonso Padilla: Very nice. 5/5 stars.

Jason Jenkins (Hypersonic): Will be supporting this release in full! Great vibe! 5/5 stars.

Jaytech: May try original, cheers :) 3/5 stars.

DJ Ron: Great track. 4/5 stars.
